Forest disturbances

The ForestPaths project has produced annual, wall-to-wall European forest disturbance maps for 1984-2023 with innovative algorithms that allow the attribution of disturbances to their underlying disturbance agent.

Tree cover gain and loss

The tree cover gain and loss map from Global Forest Watch shows where and how forests are changing around the world. Tree cover is defined here as all vegetation greater than 5 meters in height. Loss indicates the removal or mortality of tree cover. Tree cover gain may indicate natural forest growth, tree crop rotation cycle, or tree plantation management.
