This report summarized all Forest Area related results from the second Italian National Forest Inventory. The first chapter contains results by INVENTORY MACRO-CATEGORIES (Forest and OWL), INVENTORY CATEGORIES (three for Forest, five for OWL including Inaccessible or Non-classifiable forested areas) and those for the 28 INVENTORY FOREST CATEGORIES (17 for High Forest - species group related, three for Plantation Forest, one for Temporarily Unstocked Areas and five categories under OWL in which the Shrub categories is again subdiveded into three classes). Tables 1.8 to 1.26 of Chapter 1 concern the surface estimates for all the 90 INVENTORY FOREST SUB-CATEGORIES (species & habitat related) of the High Forest and the Arboriculture Wood Plants.

The same classification scheme of INVENTORY MARCO-CATEGORIES and INVENTORY CATEGORIES as above is applied in each chapter following related to Stand composition, Ownership and many other topic.
