Flanders: The 2nd Flemish Forest Inventory (2009-2019) - Interim Results (2017)

The Forest in Flanders is of a better quality than before. This is evident from the preliminary results of the Flemish forest inventory that the Agency for Nature and Forest is presenting today in the context of the Week of the Forest. Flemish forests are more diverse than in the previous inventory twenty years ago, and the number of native species is increasing at the expense of exotic species. Good news for the biodiversity and resilience of our forests. This is the nice result of a focused management with attention to the total quality of the forest ecosystem.
